The Other New York City (Short Sleeve)
While traveling, you usually talk about where you're from and what you enjoy. As a Rochesterian, when we say we're from "New York," it is usually greeted with "Oh! I love the city! what borough/neighborhood?"
This happens more than it should. But I get it, New York City is the eighth largest city in the world, and so recognizable that it's difficult to separate the city from the state.
So what's left for the rest of us that an outsider would instantly recognize? Buffalo has their chicken wings, Syracuse has their college, Albany is the capital. How would you introduce Rochester?
We're Rochester, the other New York city.
