Never a sovereign kingdom, the Crownlands were created when Aegon The Conqueror landed on Westeros to start his quest to unite the kingdoms under a single banner. After the conquest, the Crownlands became the de facto capital region, with King's Landing the capital. The largest city in the kingdoms, with every imaginable trade and service offered, King's Landing is a cultural hub for the known world. At the center is the Red Keep castle, home of the ruling family of the seven kingdoms, and ancestral seat of House Targaryen.

To represent the Crownlands, a blood red three-headed dragon stands rampant on a field of black (the sigil of House Targaryen). The dragon is stylized with a fiery texture to represent the history of the Targaryen family: from their survival of the Valyrian doom, to their close relationship with dragons. For it is with fire and blood that one is a true Targaryen.

After Robert's Rebellion, the rule of the seven kingdoms passed to House Baratheon; where Robert, Joffrey, and now Tommen have ruled over a broken land riddled by war and strife. The future rides the edge of a sword, for the Baratheon rulers face threats old and new to challenge the Iron Throne, and plunge the land further into chaos or rebuild it into a peaceful realm once more.
